About

AVDEA is a journalistic initiative exploring ideas, perspectives, and the stories shaping Dubai.

In our interconnected world, people care not only for themselves and their families but also for the broader community. They observe the results of leadership, policy, and governance, and compare them with experiences from elsewhere. Inspired by this approach, AVDEA provides thoughtful insights and analysis from a personal perspective.

This page focuses on Dubai, which I experienced firsthand during a two-week visit in November 2025. The city impressed me with its exceptional work-life balance and the tangible results of its leadership’s vision. Dubai offers a striking example of how innovation, investment, and thoughtful governance can foster prosperity for both individuals and the wider community. I aim to learn more about Dubai and the UAE, and to share my experiences and insights with anyone interested in understanding this remarkable city.

About Adalberto Vasconcelos de Araújo – AVdeA

I am Adalberto Vasconcelos de Araújo, a Brazilian national who also holds German citizenship. My first career was in journalism, which I learned professionally and practiced in Brazil. This journey eventually brought me 1983 to Germany, where I embarked on a second career after studying Business Administration

I studied Business Administration at the University of Würzburg in Bavaria, with specializations in Business Information Systems, Marketing Management, and Public Transport Policies. Following my studies, I worked internationally as an SAP Consultant, Project Manager, and Quality Assurance Specialist, with the majority of my career focused on business development for IT solutions. For example, I contributed to business development at SAP in Brazil and Germany, with responsibility for markets such as Aerospace and Defense, Engineering and Construction, and High-Tech. Over the years, I have collaborated in various roles with global companies including Mannesmann Demag, SAP Brazil, SAP SI Germany, and GE Capital, driving IT business initiatives and expanding IT solutions in both domestic and international markets.

From 2002 to 2020, I taught at several German Universities of Applied Sciences, where I was involved in MBA, MSc, Bachelor’s, and pre-Bologna programs. I delivered lectures, coordinated and evaluated final theses, and conducted oral and written exams in almost all areas of Business Development and Business Information Systems. Additionally, I taught SAP R/3 at the international SAP Consulting Academy at SAP Brazil, training professionals to implement SAP solutions.

In addition to my academic and business career, I have served as a lay judge (Schöffe) in the district court of Offenbach, in the Frankfurt great metropolitan area for many years. I also served as deputy chair of a working group on migration, diversity, and inclusion for nearly a decade in a political party within Germany’s federal governing coalition. Currently, I am engaged in lobbying activities at the German Parliament (Bundestag), aiming to help optimize consumer protection laws and strengthen our democracy.

Although I am approaching retirement, stepping back is not in my nature. I remain committed to staying connected with people, communities, and businesses. The future is arriving quickly, and it’s truly fascinating—let’s be a part of it!
